In December 2007 a group of Wellington musicians went to Takaka, Golden Bay for four days of recording. They took with them some new tunes and these songs were jammed and recorded ‘live’ in a woolshed.

The group released the resulting recording as The Woolshed Sessions which they have successfully showcased around NZ. It's now two years since the original trip to Takaka and The Woolshed crew have introduced new songs into the show, as well as playing the original material that saw the album being nominated for Best Aotearoa Roots Release at the 2009 NZ Music Awards.

Distinguished by lashings of lap-steel guitar, lush vocal harmony sing-a-longs, taonga puoro – traditional Maori instruments – and banjo punctuations, The Woolshed Sessions is a fresh approach for NZ songwriting and performance, reflective of the woolshed’s idyllic place in the NZ psyche.

The Woolshed Sessions features musicians Age Pryor, Jess Chambers, Andy Hummel, Justin Firefly, Peter Hill, Lee Prebble, Brett Skinner and Al Fraser and the photography of Andy Morley-Hall.
